Agents
npx skilld run owner/repo/skillGemini CLI is Google's coding Agent for the terminal. It reads Agent Skills from .gemini/skills in a project and from ~/.gemini/skills for every project. skilld gives you a curated set of Skills, each written by a person in their own repository, and one command that puts a Skill in front of Gemini CLI.
How Skills work in Gemini CLI
- Project:
.gemini/skills/<skill>/SKILL.md - Global:
~/.gemini/skills/<skill>/SKILL.md
Gemini CLI reads each Skill description at startup. If a task matches, it requests consent before loading the full instructions.
To write your own, follow Create a portable Agent Skill. The example includes Gemini CLI's discovery paths and consent step.
Install a Skill for Gemini CLI
npx skilld install owner/repo/skill --agent gemini-cliThe Skill lands in .gemini/skills. Add --global to install to ~/.gemini/skills instead. skilld detects the Agents in your project and on your machine. If it finds only one, omit --agent.
Start a new Gemini CLI session after an install. Run /skills list to see what it found.
Run a Skill without installing it
npx skilld run owner/repo/skillskilld run prints the Skill and writes no file. Give the command to Gemini CLI. It reads the Skill and follows it for this session. Nothing lands in your repository, and no lockfile changes.
Curated Skills for Gemini CLI
Gemini CLI readers work across many stacks, so these Skills cover everyday coding. Skills here come from the curated registry; a person admitted each one.
Helps users discover and install agent skills when they ask questions like "how do I do X", "find a skill for X", "is there a skill that can...", or express interest in extending capabilities. This skill should be used when the user is looking for functionality that might exist as an installable skill.
Persistent file-based planning for multi-step AI-agent work. Keeps task_plan.md, findings.md, and progress.md on disk; lifecycle hooks inject selected project planning context. Automatic recovery reads project planning files only. Explicit session-catchup.py --metadata reads same-project local agent session records and emits aggregate counts only; --replay may emit bounded nonce-framed excerpts. Optional gated mode can request continuation only when the host supports it and never runs commands declared in Markdown. The skill has no network upload path. Use for research or work needing 5+ tool calls.
A relentless interview to sharpen a plan or design.
Use when encountering any bug, test failure, or unexpected behavior, before proposing fixes
Test-driven development. Use when the user wants to build features or fix bugs test-first, mentions "red-green-refactor", or wants integration tests.
Guidance for distinctive, intentional visual design when building new UI or reshaping an existing one. Helps with aesthetic direction, typography, and making choices that don't read as templated defaults.
Transforms anime, art, or 3D rendering images into photorealistic cosplay-style photographs.
Converts figure photos to photorealistic human cosplayer images using a strict JSON-based reasoning mandate.
