gws gmail +reply --message-id 18f1a2b3c4d --body 'Draft reply' --draft

Tips

  • Automatically sets In-Reply-To, References, and threadId headers.
  • Quotes the original message in the reply body.
  • --to adds extra recipients to the To field.
  • Use -a/--attach to add file attachments. Can be specified multiple times.
  • With --html, the quoted block uses Gmail's gmail_quote CSS classes and preserves HTML formatting. Use fragment tags (<p>, <b>, <a>, etc.) โ€” no <html>/<body> wrapper needed.
  • With --html, inline images in the quoted message are preserved via cid: references.
  • Use --draft to save the reply as a draft instead of sending it immediately.
  • For reply-all, use +reply-all instead.

Sends a reply to a Gmail message via the gws CLI, automatically handling message threading, quoting, and optional attachments or CC/BCC recipients. Use this when an AI agent needs to respond to a specific email within a conversation thread.

Generated from the current SKILL.md.

Does this automatically handle reply threading?
Yes. The skill automatically sets In-Reply-To, References, and threadId headers, and quotes the original message in the reply body.
Can I send a reply-all instead?
No. Use the +reply-all skill instead for reply-all functionality.
Does this support HTML email bodies?
Yes. Use the --html flag to treat --body as HTML content. Inline images in the quoted message are preserved via cid: references.
Can I attach files to the reply?
Yes. Use the --attach or -a flag, which can be specified multiple times to add multiple file attachments.
What authentication does this require?
You must read gws-shared/SKILL.md for auth setup and global flags. The gws binary must be installed and configured.
