Turn any markdown file into a publication-quality PDF. (gstack)

The Horizon

This is the combined-features fixture. Every feature turned on simultaneously. The gate asserts that all of these paragraphs extract cleanly from the PDF with pdftotext.

A paragraph with bold, italic, and inline code tokens — each of which gets a different HTML treatment. None should fragment text on copy-paste.

A paragraph with "curly quotes", 'single quotes', an em dash -- like this, and an ellipsis... All three get smartypants transforms.

A subsection heading

Lists must not break mid-item:

  • First list item with some words that keep it on one line.
  • Second list item with more words.
  • Third list item.

A blockquote from Van Dyke. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

A second chapter

This content begins on a fresh page because the default chapter-breaks rule fires. Extract must still find these paragraphs.

A final paragraph with enough words to trigger hyphenation across the line wrap boundary. Extraordinary words sometimes hyphenate. Interdisciplinary ones certainly do.

This skill is a well-engineered tool for converting markdown to publication-quality PDFs. It includes robust security features such as HTML sanitization, blocking of remote image fetches by default to prevent tracking, and protection against unauthorized file access from within markdown files. All external dependencies and scripts are part of the local installation or standard system tools.

Converts markdown files to publication-quality PDFs with proper margins, page breaks, page numbers, table of contents, and styled formatting. Use when asked to export markdown to PDF or generate a finished document.

Generated from the current SKILL.md.

What output formats does this skill support?
This skill converts markdown to PDF only. It does not generate other formats like HTML or DOCX.
Does this skill add features like table of contents or cover pages?
Yes. The skill supports optional flags for cover pages, table of contents, page numbers, running headers, and diagonal watermarks via the `--cover`, `--toc`, and `--watermark` flags.
What happens if the make-pdf binary is not available?
The skill will report `MAKE_PDF_NOT_AVAILABLE` and instruct you to run `./setup` in the gstack repo to build the binary before retrying.
Can I preview the PDF before generating the final output?
Yes. The skill includes a `$P preview <input.md>` command that renders HTML and opens it in your browser for fast iteration.
Does this skill work in plan mode?
Yes. The skill follows plan mode safe operations and treats the skill file as executable instructions; AskUserQuestion calls satisfy plan mode's end-of-turn requirement.
