Lens: Outside the Box (Reviewer Guide)
When to Apply
Final lens. All other lenses have been applied. Time for fresh perspective.
What to Look For in Diffs
- Unexpected improvements not covered by other lenses
- Simplifications that challenge assumptions
- Structural changes that feel "obvious in hindsight"
First Pass
Worker should step back and look fresh. What still bothers them? What feels off?
Second Pass
Give the worker a turn to suggest their own improvements — they may see things the lenses missed.
Go Deeper
Push hard here:
- What haven't we considered at all?
- What would someone completely new to this code notice?
- Is there a fundamentally simpler approach?
When Done
This is the final lens. When nothing more emerges, move to the final review.
