Hook Extractor Examples (Facebook Page)
Worked teardowns. Each maps a post to a formula, explains why it worked, and returns a blank template.
Teardown 1 - short post
Pasted post:
We answer every message in under 4 minutes. On weekends too.
Teardown:
- Container: short post (59 chars, under the 80-char sweet spot, no fold)
- Formula: FB2 The Tiny Number (confidence high)
- Hook line: the whole post is the hook. One concrete, odd-precision claim.
- Interaction devices: the number ("4 minutes"), the unexpected add ("on weekends too") that makes it worth sharing.
- Primary goal: shares (a concrete, quotable proof point passes on easily)
- Why it worked: a single hard number is the most shareable unit on a Page. "Under 4 minutes" is specific enough to be believable and surprising enough to pass on. It earns the share without asking for it.
- Source audit: clean. Em dashes under the cap, no AI vocab cluster, no bait.
Blank template (FB2):
{Specific number, not rounded} {what it measures}. {One short surprising add.}Teardown 2 - comment-driver
Pasted post:
Tabs or spaces? Be honest.
Teardown:
- Container: short post (26 chars)
- Formula: FB4 This-or-That (confidence high)
- Hook: a friendly binary that readers have a reflexive opinion on.
- Interaction devices: the binary choice (lowest-effort comment there is), the "be honest" that gives permission to argue.
- Primary goal: comments (the heaviest meaningful-interaction signal)
- Why it worked: a two-sided choice with mild stakes is the most reliable comment-driver on a Page, and it does not read as bait because the choice is real. Comments outweigh reactions in Facebook's ranker.
- Source audit: clean.
Blank template (FB4):
{Option A} or {Option B}? {Short permission-to-argue line.}Teardown 3 - story post
Pasted post:
The oven died at 4am on our busiest Saturday.
Two of us drove across town, borrowed a friend's oven, and baked 200 loaves in a stranger's kitchen by 9.
Sold out by noon. Sometimes the backup plan is just people who show up.
Teardown:
- Container: story post (deliberately longer, earns the room)
- Formula: FB8 Story Post with a Turn (confidence high)
- First line: drops the reader at the tension ("oven died at 4am"), which earns the "See more" tap.
- Body: two short beats carry the scene (the scramble, the number).
- Close: the turn ("sold out by noon") plus one quotable line of meaning.
- Interaction devices: the specific scene, the number ("200 loaves"), the quotable ending built to be shared.
- Primary goal: shares and comments (the ending is passed on; readers add their own "people who show up" stories)
- Why it worked: in medias res skips the windup the fold punishes, the concrete number anchors the story, and the closing line is shareable on its own. Long was the right call because every beat earns its place.
- Source audit: clean. No "We are thrilled to announce", no padding.
Blank template (FB8):
{One line dropping the reader into the moment it nearly went wrong.}
{Two short beats: what happened, with one real number.}
{The turn, then one quotable line of meaning.}
