Reader Personas
Define the intended readers before expanding the manuscript. Replace every placeholder.
Primary Persona
- Role / background: (Who is the main reader?)
- Prior knowledge: (What can this reader already explain or do?)
- Use context: (Why and where will this reader use the book?)
- Pain points: (What currently blocks or confuses this reader?)
- Completion outcome: (What should this reader be able to decide or do after reading?)
- Explanation depth: (What belongs in the main flow, and what should be deferred?)
Secondary Personas
Secondary Persona 1
- Role / background: (Who else should benefit?)
- Prior knowledge: (What can this reader already explain or do?)
- Completion outcome: (What should this reader gain without displacing the primary persona?)
Non-Goals
- (Readers or advanced use cases this book does not optimize for)
- (Details that belong in another book, appendix, or reference)
Review Lens
- Can the primary persona follow the main argument without unstated prerequisites?
- Does each chapter stop at the depth this persona needs at that point?
- Are advanced settings, exceptions, and alternate procedures deferred to the chapter where they are used?
- Do secondary-persona examples support rather than interrupt the main flow?
- Does the final manuscript deliver the stated completion outcome?
