Run it yourself

Create text-driven visuals in Markdown: charts, diagrams, cards, architecture and page layouts. Charts and analytical views (bar, line, pie, heatmap, correlation, regression); reliability and operations (latency, incident, throughput, cycle time, OKR, standup, on-call); product and finance (funnel, retention, revenue, budget); process and workflow (approval, BPMN); software design and behaviour (class, state machine, sequence, C4); dependencies and impact (dependency graph, ER, causality); system architecture as HTML (layer stack, wings, zones, topology, service catalogue, request paths); infrastructure (cloud, Kubernetes, ETL, network, security, IAM, compliance); governance and people (ArchiMate, org chart, hiring); knowledge and planning (mind map, roadmap, Gantt, migration); documents (comparison, SWOT, memo, policy, catalogue, case study). Use when a document needs a diagram, chart or card. Figures render live. Not for slide decks or math notation. Not recommended: mermaid / canvas / drawio / dot.

Simple Grid — Approved Internal Tooling (Infographic)

Best for: a flat inventory where every item has equal weight and nothing is sequential Avoid when: the items have an order, a hierarchy or per-item numbers Answers: what the standard toolset is, and what each item is responsible for

Data Shape

lists with one entry per item and no ordering semantics — the plainest reading of an inventory. Six entries fill the grid evenly; odd counts leave a ragged last row.

Key Options

Option Effect
list-grid-simple The neutral grid: no progress, no badges, no icons
list-grid-badge-card Adds a badge slot when items carry a status
list-grid-compact-card Tighter cards, better when entries are text-heavy
list-grid-candy-card-lite Softer card treatment for outward-facing decks
Even entry count The grid has no emphasis, so a ragged row is the only visible irregularity

Pitfalls

  • ❌ Using the plainest grid for a prioritised list → ✅ nothing here ranks the items; use list-pyramid or a scored table
  • ❌ Items whose descriptions differ wildly in length → ✅ the grid is uniform, so long cells stretch every row
  • ❌ Seven or eight entries → ✅ the grid wraps to a second row with no emphasis; group instead
  • ❌ Reusing it for categories plus counts → ✅ that is a chart; the list carries names, not magnitudes

Figures are text in the Markdown — fenced blocks or bare HTML — and the host viewer renders them live: nothing to pre-render, build or install. Export to html / epub / docx / pdf is optional and needs Node 18+ and Chrome/Chromium, via `npx @markdown-viewer/documd`.
