Run it yourself

Create text-driven visuals in Markdown: charts, diagrams, cards, architecture and page layouts. Charts and analytical views (bar, line, pie, heatmap, correlation, regression); reliability and operations (latency, incident, throughput, cycle time, OKR, standup, on-call); product and finance (funnel, retention, revenue, budget); process and workflow (approval, BPMN); software design and behaviour (class, state machine, sequence, C4); dependencies and impact (dependency graph, ER, causality); system architecture as HTML (layer stack, wings, zones, topology, service catalogue, request paths); infrastructure (cloud, Kubernetes, ETL, network, security, IAM, compliance); governance and people (ArchiMate, org chart, hiring); knowledge and planning (mind map, roadmap, Gantt, migration); documents (comparison, SWOT, memo, policy, catalogue, case study). Use when a document needs a diagram, chart or card. Figures render live. Not for slide decks or math notation. Not recommended: mermaid / canvas / drawio / dot.

Backlog Priority Quadrant — Impact vs Effort (Infographic)

Best for: sorting a messy initiative list into four action groups the reader can act on Avoid when: every item has the same impact/effort rating, or ranking must be numeric (use a scored table) Answers: which work we start now, which we schedule, which we hand to an intern, and which we drop

Data Shape

Use compares with exactly four entries — the quadrant slots, in reading order (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right). Each slot carries a label, a short desc naming the decision rule, and a children list holding the items that landed there.

Key Options

Option Effect
infographic compare-quadrant-quarter-simple-card Four quarter cards; the plainest reading of a priority matrix
compare-quadrant-quarter-circular Same data with curved quarter shapes — softer, more decorative
compare-quadrant-simple-illus Adds illustration space inside each quadrant
children The items placed in that quadrant; keep to 2–3 per slot

Pitfalls

  • ❌ Slot labels like "Q1 / Q2 / Q3 / Q4" → ✅ name the decision ("Do Now", "Schedule", "Drop")
  • ❌ Packing ten items into one quadrant → ✅ the visual argument is balance; 2–3 per slot reads instantly
  • ❌ Using this for scoring → ✅ quadrants classify, they do not rank; use a scorecard when you need numbers

Figures are text in the Markdown — fenced blocks or bare HTML — and the host viewer renders them live: nothing to pre-render, build or install. Export to html / epub / docx / pdf is optional and needs Node 18+ and Chrome/Chromium, via `npx @markdown-viewer/documd`.
