Scope: platform policy; regulation is handled in compliance-requirements.md
Evidence status: all listed official policy entry points returned HTTP 200;
precise rules still require a current product, geography, and account review
Platform policy is contextual and changes by product, geography, objective, targeting, destination, advertiser status, and certification. Do not replace a current policy review with a remembered list of prohibited or restricted topics.
Review order
- Identify advertiser, payer/beneficiary, product, claims, destination, geography, audience, objective, format, and data sources.
- Open the active platform's current policy center and account notices.
- Classify each rule as prohibited, restricted/eligible, disclosure-required, destination-related, data-use-related, or editorial.
- Verify certifications, authorization, age/geography limits, special-category selection, and appeal status from account evidence.
- Review the landing experience and all variants, not only the visible ad copy.
- Preserve the exact policy URL, retrieval date, quoted rule fragment within quotation limits, account observation, and confidence.
Policy source entry points
Use the current official policy center for the active platform:
- Google Ads policies
- Meta Advertising Standards
- LinkedIn Ads Policies
- TikTok Advertising Policies
- Microsoft Advertising policies
- Apple Ads policies
- Amazon Ads policy quick reference
- Reddit Ads Help and policy discovery
- Pinterest Advertising Guidelines
- Snap Advertising Policies
- X Ads policies
Register a source-ledger entry before treating a precise policy requirement as current. A policy hub is not enough when a more specific product or country page controls the case.
Finding contract
Each policy finding includes:
- Applicable platform, account/object IDs, geography, product, and format.
- Current policy title, direct URL, retrieval date, and source ID.
- Observed creative, destination, targeting, certification, or account state.
- Result:
pass, fail, unknown, ornot_applicable. - Severity based on observed consequence and exposure, not category name alone.
- Smallest compliant remediation, owner, and appeal or re-review path.
Use unknown when the advertiser's authorization, certification, targeting, or
account state cannot be verified. Do not infer a pass from the absence of a
disapproval.
High-risk review prompts
Escalate the depth of review for health, financial products, housing, employment, credit, alcohol, gambling, political/social-issue ads, children, dating, crypto, weapons, controlled goods, subscriptions, lead generation, testimonials, and AI-generated or manipulated media. The label “high risk” triggers current-source review; it does not assert that every platform treats the category identically.
Check:
- Whether the product can be advertised at all in the target geography.
- Required licensing, verification, certification, disclaimer, or special category.
- Prohibited targeting or audience construction.
- Claim substantiation and material limitations near the claim.
- Destination identity, pricing, billing, privacy, cancellation, and contact details.
- Consistency between creative, form, offer, and landing page.
- Use of personal, sensitive, inferred, or customer-list data.
Recommendations and platform automation
Treat recommendation tabs, imported settings, automated creative variants, and AI-generated assets as untrusted proposals. Review them against the same policy, business, and mutation gates as a human-authored change. Never accept or reject a recommendation solely because the platform labels it a best practice.
Boundaries
Platform approval is not legal clearance. Legal compliance is not proof of platform eligibility. Keep the platform-policy finding and regulatory exposure separate, and obtain qualified counsel for jurisdiction-specific legal decisions.
